There But For Fortune

One thing that should be brought up here:

I am working on my first graphic novel in ages.  The last time I did it, I did everything myself except a little art that was done by a high school friend for free.  This time around, I’m looking at a work about the sociopolitical life of America in the late ’60s and early ’70s.  Loosely it follows the way that Phil Ochs was an avatar for American political life at the time, and as he got more desperate and disillusioned so did the rest of the country.

The first four pages art fully rendered (except lettering) and the script is about 2/3 done.  I don’t know what publisher I’m going to try and go through yet, although I’ve got a few in mind (some that are friends of mine and some that just seem like a good fit).  I’m working with a brilliant young artist named Marion Vitus, who works with Friends of Lulu and has her own comics, too.  I can’t share any of the art yet, but it looks FANTASTIC, and I’m looking forward to showing the whole world once the project gets a little futher along.

Sometime soon, I’ll link to a CBZ file (comic book ZIP) of Captain Internet Doesn’t Wear Undershirts, a comic I wrote back in 1999.  It’ll give new readers a sense for what my creative writing is like and some of the kinds of things that interest me.  I just have to find it again!
